Ari Gušlaugsson and family established Efri-Raušilękur as a breeding farm for Icelandic horses in 1990.
The farm is nestled in the fertile Hörgįrdalur valley on Iceland's North Coast.
The farm is sheltered by the high mountains that overlook Eyjafjöršur, one of Iceland's
most spectacular fjords. While only 60 km from the Arctic Circle, the climate in Hörgįrdalur is mild, with summer temperatures
often above 20 degrees C (high 60's F).
