Baddi on NökkviNökkvi wins first prize at Saušįrkrókur

On April 26, Nökkvi frį Efri-Raušalęk took first prize at Iceland's first breeding show of the year in Saušįrkrókur. Nökkvi, ridden by Baddi, won first prize in the Individual Stallions, 6-years and older class. Baddi also rode Garri frį Hóli v/Dalvķk to fourth place in the same class. The details are at Eišfaxi Online.

Baddi highlighted at Equine Affaire

As he does regularly, Baddi was an active member of the Icelandic horse contingent at the November 2002 Equine Affaire in West Springfield, Mass. The Pfizer Fantasia equine musical revue was a sellout, where Baddi was responsible for the design and choreography of the Icelandic program. He coached a select number of riders from Iceland, the US, and Europe and rode in the program.

In the Breed Demonstrations, Baddi taught the program, teaching more American riders who have their own horses.

Baddi is looking forward to returning to the November 2003 Equine Affaire in West Springfield, November 6-9.

US breeding syndication of Sesar frį Vogum

Sesar frį VogumSesar frį Vogum, a leading stallion at Efri-Raušilękur, is now being syndicated for breeding in the US. He's been picking up quite a few shareholders in the Midwest.

Breeding rights to Sesar are sold in two types of shares.

  • $5,000 (four shares) purchases the right to breed four mares every year for the life of Sesar.
  • $3,000 (two shares) purchases the right to breed two mares every year for the life of Sesar.
Owners of these shares can breed their own mares or sublet their breeding rights to those who would like to breed to him.

Dan Riva on Fjalar (L) and Baddi on Sesar at the Parade of BreedsOver the winter, Sesar was at Winterhorse Park Icelandic Horse Farm in Eagle, Wisconsin, for conditioning. Farm owner Barb Riva says, “I've ridden him myself for a lesson, and he was quite exhilarating, very soft in the bit, and easy to ride. He is a perfect gentleman on the ground, handling and trailering around and with mares. He was in a paddock here with two geldings for three months, and we even put a recently-weaned colt in with them before gelding. He was thrilled with the addition of the little guy and really enjoyed playing with him.”
